An exciting opportunity exists for a proven international Business Development Consultant, who is passionate about coaching businesses, as well as experience in Technology sector business consulting and/or international business sales to join our Mexico team.
What you’ll be doing - Te whakamahere
As a Business Development Consultant you will join a team that is passionate about representing New Zealand in the Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean markets. Coaching and guiding New Zealand businesses to commercial success by helping them to define their unique selling proposition and find the right position in the technology sector. This role will see you have a dedicated focus on growing a portfolio of customers in the tech sector, particularly within education, health (including medical device), retail, and entertainment verticals. You will work with your customers to help develop and execute their business growth plan by using your keen business acumen and agility to leverage your existing commercial relationships to proactively support our customers already in or looking to enter market, converting opportunities into value.
You will have a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the technology sector. You’ll be able to provide expert advice on how to navigate scaling, embedding excellent User Experience principles, how to develop and execute SaaS and digital business models, as well as an understanding of data analytics, across a range of technology services in our ever-changing business ecosystem.

Trend savvy, you will provide insight on market realities through expert market research and analysis. Adeptly identifying and providing introductions to strategic relationships, you'll aid customers forging relationships with potential in-market partners. Recognising this sector is varied, you will help develop niche approaches to maximise new channels to market, identify of growth opportunities and guide strategic execution. You will also play a key role in evaluating the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for our customers in comparison to their competitors to identify where impact is greatest, and then assist them in shaping and reshaping their strategies and business models to help them succeed. There will be many opportunities to work as part of our wider Latin America (LATAM) team, as you will be involved in projects that will see you work across and with different regional offices.

What you’ll need to be successful - Ō Pūkenga
You will have a solid understanding of the challenges of growing a successful international business in Mexico, as well as knowledge of other markets including Central America and the Caribbean and will know how to use your consulting skills to coach and advise your portfolio of Technology businesses to successfully navigate these.

You will be highly versed in a range of trade and economic issues with solid experience across a variety of business disciplines such as business consulting, sales, marketing, account management, project management through multiple roles in your career. An understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant for the technology portfolio (including sanitary, NOM’s, electric and electronics etc.) would be highly beneficial.

You will have well-developed knowledge of, and personal networks, in the technology sector across Mexico and the wider region. Building new relationships and networks comes naturally to you and you will have well-developed listening, influencing and communication skills. You will have a growth mindset, “can do” attitude and be motivated to use initiative and critical thinking to problem solve and get things done for our clients. You will be action oriented, driving your portfolios strategic capability whilst still being a superb team player.
You will have demonstrated a proven ability to turn market knowledge and data into insights that add value, are actionable and drive our customers’ tactical competitive advantage. As is the planning, time management and organisation skills that will be critical to your success in this busy and varied role.

Fluency in both English and Spanish, ideally with a tertiary business qualification and it would be advantageous if you have experience in project management.

Please note this role has an internal title of Business Development Manager (BDM).
