DATA CO-ORDINATOR
THREE (3) YEARS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT
EAST LONDON, EASTERN CAPE PROVINCE

The main purpose of this position is to manage data collection activities and services against set deliverables, study milestones and in line with the study protocol.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or other related qualification
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in data quality control and assurance
- At least 2 years’ experience working with databases, data procedures, and data administration
- Must be proficient using Redcap
- Knowledge of research documentation standards
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, collaboration and strategic thinking skills
- Decision making & analytical skills
- Planning and Organizing skills
- Problem solving and detail orientated
- Team player, as well as the ability to work independently
- Must be willing to live in East London
Advantageous:
- Demonstrable experience implementing and monitoring field-based data collection activities for public health research studies
- Master in Public Health or Certificate in Data Management
- Proficiency using data collection software such as CommCare, ACASI, etc
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience managing and analysing public health research data
- Experience in the use of data analysis packages (e.g., STATA, SPSS, SAS or R) for Data Analysis
- Experience working in a research environment
- Knowledge of research methodology, including quantitative and qualitative methods
- Knowledge of POPI Act and its impact on data collection, management and sharing
- Valid code 8 driver’s license
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
- IsiXhosa speaking
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of electronic data collection platforms such as REDCap
- Carry out data management process including data quality control and quality assurance.
- Support the development and implementation real-time data quality assurance processes and procedures
- Perform data cleaning and log data queries for investigation
- Work with Data Manager to develop data management and quality assurance plans, including project progress monitoring tools
- Training and managing junior staff
- Assist Data Manager with preparation and extraction of analytic datasets
- Manage data collection resources, assets and tools
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
- Attend Data Management meetings
- Support field implementation of data collection, quality assurance and management actives for DTHF in Eastern Cape
- Directly work with and report to the data manager to support the development and maintenance of the data management infrastructure that serves as the foundation for the DTHF Eastern Cape’s data collection and processing activities
- Assist the data manager in overseeing DTHF Eastern Cape’s research project’s data management processes such as data transmission, maintaining high data quality and ethical standards, data storage and security
