The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Project Manager to join our team in a part time position to work within the division of Molecular Genetics. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates genomics research studies, including multisite genomic medicine NIH studies.
• Project manager for multi-center studies and coordinators work across the study sites including organization of site research staff, IRB approvals and modifications, and central oversight of the biospecimens, genomic data, and clinical databases.
• Obtains and maintains Columbia institutional review board (IRB) approval.
• Manages a team of research assistants who recruit study participants, explain the study to prospective participants and assist with obtaining informed consent and study data.
• Studies may include pre and post-test genetic sessions to return research results and study the impact of receiving genomic data/a genetic diagnosis. Studies also include rare genetic diseases and coordination of protocols across national and international rare disease networks.
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Should have at least 5 years of experience in clinical research and preferably clinical genetics experience.
• Should have experience in a supervisory role.

Other Requirements

• Requires excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and managerial skills.
• Experience with IRB submissions, research compliance, and database software.
