Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Project Manager to join our team in a part time position to work within the division of Molecular Genetics. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Responsibilities
- Coordinates genomics research studies, including multisite genomic medicine NIH studies.
- Project manager for multi-center studies and coordinators work across the study sites including organization of site research staff, IRB approvals and modifications, and central oversight of the biospecimens, genomic data, and clinical databases.
- Obtains and maintains Columbia institutional review board (IRB) approval.
- Manages a team of research assistants who recruit study participants, explain the study to prospective participants and assist with obtaining informed consent and study data.
- Studies may include pre and post-test genetic sessions to return research results and study the impact of receiving genomic data/a genetic diagnosis. Studies also include rare genetic diseases and coordination of protocols across national and international rare disease networks.
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Should have at least 5 years of experience in clinical research and preferably clinical genetics experience.
- Should have experience in a supervisory role.
Other Requirements
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and managerial skills.
- Experience with IRB submissions, research compliance, and database software.
