Role description


Trade Finance Lead provides solutions related to imports, exports or domestic trade transactions that include document handling, financing and risk mitigation. Product examples:
  • Bilateral and syndicated loans
  • Unfunded Trade Solutions
  • Funded Trade Solutions
  • Structured Trade Solutions
  • Distribution and Credit Solutions
  • FSC and other TF&L products


Trade Flow Advisory & Service team handle Trade Finance and lending transactions across all client segments. The team will be measured by client satisfaction and intensifying client relationships as well as client revenues.


  • Advisory role managing end to end sales process and client management for all non-complex Trade flow clients. TFAS will have primary responsibility for a portfolio of clients and associated revenue representing the non-complex subset of Trade Flow products.
  • Pricing under a defined framework – pricing / return calculation (RPT) seeking RPM & Business approval on transactions to meet the internal return thresholds (RoRWA, RoE)
  • Proposal / Term-sheet preparation and follow through
  • Actively contact adopted client to maximize level of credit line utilization.
  • Regular contact client on Export LC confirmation and discounting opportunity including working with TFFI sales on credit limit request via TFLM system including Distribution team if require.
  • Identifying up-sell and cross sell trade finance opportunities with adopted clients
  • Acts as client’s advisor on subject/rules related documentary trade and bank guarantee.
  • Client Relationship Manager for premium clients on day-to-day trade related activities
  • Relationship Management for assigned clients within Relationship & Transaction Management (existing clients with heavy trade-related activities or alignment with RTM and in-country Corporate Bank’s strategy)
  • Lead of TF&L farming activities (client calling, meeting, pricing proposal to increase limit utilization) to achieve overall revenues target for Trade Finance & Lending
  • Servicing clients;
  • Advising Trade clients and setting up of non-standardized Trade transactions (e.g. Wording for Guarantees)
  • Answering all kinds of product related questions before product is issued
  • Discuss workability issues which need to be discussed with the client
  • Create legal documentation and agree with clients (based on standard templates from Legal)
  • Check and improve transaction application, documents discrepancies as provided by TFO India
  • Supporting clients’ daily queries on trade related products to ensure clients’ satisfaction
  • Taking lead of TF related survey/campaign
  • Co-ordination with product manager, TF&L country Lead for NPA, TF related documents/forms for commercialization of TF products or upon implementation of regulatory changes
  • Identifying potential leads and cross & up sell opportunities in order to maximize revenue
  • Manage/update client profile and TF client scoring card in central repository application (CCDB) for reference to internal stakeholders
  • Transaction Monitoring, ensuring transactions are a good fit for the client
  • Discussion with Business Partners on trade finance related matter (TF Operations, CRM, Legal, Compliance etc)
  • Enquiry and client complaint management
  • FSC Program management and Trade Platform Implementations & Services (Including Supplier On boarding/offboarding/farming)
  • Comply with Internal & Regulatory Risk and Control Guidelines
  • Drive continuous improvement activities for area of accountability leading to operational efficiencies’
  • Monitor the service quality and turnaround time according to the agreed SLA with TFO India
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports if any to Finance, Compliance and Regulators
  • Focal point of contact of the Trade Advisory & Service for the internal/external auditors, compliance, AFC and local regulator
  • Participate in the projects and initiatives implemented by Client Service & Delivery (CSD)
  • Lead and train the junior staff to deliver the advisory and service duties
  • Supervision of outsourcing activities performs by Near Offshore Center.

Professional and personal qualifications

  • University degree and/or professional qualification in Finance or Banking or relevant major. Master/MBA is an advantage.
  • Min 7-10 years of experience in international/global banks
  • In-depth knowledge of trade products (funded and unfunded), and local banking regulations
  • Experienced in relationship management or client services plus operations (not mandatory)
  • Excellent in interpersonal skills, problem solving
  • Solution oriented
  • Client centricity mindset
  • Positive, commitment. Strong ability to adapt to change
  • Focused, well-organized, effective time management
  • Great team player and effectively dealing with complex organization structure, multinational cultures
  • Fluent in English and Vietnamese. Other languages (Japanese, Korean, Mandarin) is an advantage
  • Leadership capability /potential. Manager experience is plus.
