PrincipalPosition: PrincipalReports to: Sr. Director of Teaching & LearningClassification: SYRS (12 months), Full Time, ExemptSalary Range: $110,000 - $149,000Location: ACE Charter Schools, San Jose CAPosition Summary: We are looking for extraordinary school-site principals to lead our schools! Reporting to the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning, you will be crucial to championing the schools mission and values to all stakeholders and provide the vision for the schools growth and development. You will be responsible for building the schools culture and will do so through strong leadership, communication, and management skills.Responsibilities:School Culture & Vision
  • Inspire students, families and staff to achieve mission of ACE by creating an engaging and vibrant school culture
  • Lead the staff in creating a school community where people feel known, important, and accountable for their role in helping ACE meet the mission
  • Set the vision for community excellence, and provide opportunities for all stakeholders to reach that standard
  • Maintain a collaborative culture that leverages opportunities for network-wide learning, partnership, and planning on behalf of ACE students and staffInstructional Leadership
  • Build a culture of instructional excellence and constant improvement characterized by standards-based, culturally relevant, data-driven instruction, collaboration, and a relentless focus on increasing student learning
  • Train the Assistant Principal, School Leader Resident and Lead Teachers as instructional leaders to become exemplary coaches of teachers
  • Use data (internal benchmarks, state mandated testing, behavioral, and college matriculation) to analyze program effectiveness and identify areas needing improvement
  • Develop restorative approaches to student discipline and family engagement
  • Align resources and professional development activities ensure increased staff expertise to accelerate student learning.
  • Oversee the teacher coaching process, ensuring all teachers benefit from the supports and/or leadership opportunities they need to grow. Support teaching staff with suggestions and strategies to improve curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom management.

  • Establish clear school goals and priorities based on student achievement data, staff feedback, and other student and school performance data.
  • Create an environment of mutual respect, data-driven decision-making, and collaboration
  • Support staff health and wellness initiatives
  • Provide successful supervision of staff through articulation of clear goals, use of job descriptions, coaching, development of growth plans, and effective implementation of performance evaluation process.
  • Lead the Administrative Team in fostering a culture of transparency, openness, responsiveness, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Attend school-wide events on a rotating basis.Student Recruitment and Enrollment
  • Lead student recruitment planning efforts to ensure student retention and enrollment targets are met. Oversee Dean of Community Outreachs work.
  • Support and mentor staff developing recruitment plans and executing recruitment initiatives
  • Design and lead student retention and family engagement effortsCo-Curricular Learning and After School Programming
  • Through collaboration with network leaders ensure that advisory programs, electives, clubs, field trips, and after school programming receive the resources to be successful, and are aligned with mission and vision
  • Hold community based organizations that serve as partners accountable for meeting safety and communication standards while fulfilling all components of their service agreements with ACESchool Governance and Safety
  • Ensure all stakeholders have avenues to give input through creation and management of effective governance structures including, but not limited to, Parent Committee, Instructional Leadership Team, and student organizations
  • Implement school safety plan and ensure adherence to safety drill schedule
  • Lead crisis responseQualifications & Skills
  • You are a mission-driven individual who has experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with disabilities
  • You are passionate about ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities for students who would be the first in their family to graduate from college
  • You have experience as a teacher and educational leader, with administrative experience preferred. You are comfortable with a variety of curricula and have demonstrated an ability to select and implement high quality instructional materials
  • You have strong analytical skills and are comfortable with data driven decision making, strategic planning, and , applying assessment instruments, interpersonal skills, planning and managing projects, preparing and maintaining accurate records, promoting child centered environment, quality customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • You have excellent planning and time management skills. You know how to delegate and support a team.
  • You are comfortable with instructional technology and professional tools such as Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Hangouts, etc), as well as Google Classroom and/or other distance learning platforms. You have experience using Zoom both as a user and presenter
  • You know the developmental needs of adolescents
  • You are comfortable working with families on behalf of their children
  • You have experience coaching teachers and designing professional development
  • You are flexible and resilient
  • You build relationships that support your students, your staff, and yourself
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably also in a Spanish or Vietnamese
  • You hold a bachelors degree and valid California teaching credentials.
  • You have leadership experience in San Jose or a similar community.Physical DemandsTo perform essential functions for the role, you should be able to:
